Western Safaris

Founded in 1979 in Zimbawe, Western Safaris is one of the oldest and most experienced safari operations around. Over the years they have built a reputation for giving first class service. The founder member, John Rosenfels and his wife Marilyn are still an integral part of the operation. The company has expanded with John’s children and their spouses joining the business.

In 2005 Kevin and Natalie Bowker started up the South African branch of Western Safaris on their family farm in the Eastern Cape. This corner of South Africa offers a great hunting experience with an incredible diversity of plainsgame.

More recently Western has acquired a hunting area in Mozambique. The area is Coutada 9 in central Mozambique. This area was one of the most famous hunting blocks in the heydays of safaris to Africa. Here John, along with his family and partners, are putting their experience and expertise to work to return this area to its former glory. John's sons James and Edward are the principal professional hunters, while Edward manages the camp in Coutada 9.

Zimbabwe remains an excellent hunting destination and Western Safaris still offer safaris to this country. As in Mozambique, clients will benefit from the guiding experience of James and Edward. James' wife Vikki co-ordinates the logistics of the hunting in Mozambique and Zimbabwe from the office in Bulawayo.

This small family run and owned outfit continue to pride themselves in providing an excellent personalised service while conducting memorable safaris across Southern Africa.
